What is Lumière vivante®?

Lumière vivante® (living light in french) is the light from outside — unpredictable and natural. It's the burst of light that fills a room when the sun comes out from behind the clouds.

It isn’t programmed; it doesn’t fail, it doesn’t flicker, and it changes continuously and imperceptibly. It is soft and shapes our days. It helps us feel better, see better, focus and learn, and sleep better at night.

Living light is outdoor light — and it’s Olumee’s light, for you.

Olumee: a window — without construction work

For spaces that lack access to sunlight — windowless rooms, borrowed light, deep floor plates—Olumee brings the window closer.

Lighting technology with exceptional precision

LEDs driven by Olumee preserve light quality (spectrum, CRI, colour temperature) longer than LEDs driven by PWM.

Our high-rendering analogue technology avoids heat stress that ages phosphors, and reduces electromagnetic stress on control electronics.

The result is a stable, durable visual experience — essential when light fidelity matters as much as lifetime.

Olumee reproduces the dynamic range of the human eye — from full sunlight at 100,000 lux to moonlight at 0.1 lux. Our Lumière Vivante® controller delivers a 1/1,000,000 dynamic range, with no visible steps.

Olumee’s living lights deliver the quality of outdoor daylight to improve comfort for everyone.

Our product in 3 key steps

1

The sensor

  • High fidelity : calibrated and trained to detect subtleties beyond human perception
  • Autonomous : powered by solar panel and battery
  • Wireless : LoRa transmission for strong building penetration at low power
  • Lightweight : non-invasive installation
2

The Lumière Vivante® controller

  • High fidelity : reproduces in real time every variation in color and intensity
  • High efficiency : delivers a 95% ratio for optimal energy efficiency
  • High durability : designed to last, preserving the spectral quality of LEDs and extending their lifespan
  • Contrast : drives LEDs without flicker or visible banding, with an unmatched dynamic range (1/1,000,000), comparable to the human eye
3

The luminaires

  • Premium LEDs : CRI above 95 for faithful colour rendering
  • Colour quality : natural, even light without harsh blue spike
  • Tunable white : CCT variations from 2700K to 6500K depending on the desired atmosphere

*CRI (Colour Rendering Index): measures colour fidelity (0–100). **CCT: correlated colour temperature, from warm (2700K) to cool (6500K).

Your questions about Olumee technology

What is Olumee’s “Lumière vivante®” high-fidelity technology? +
Olumee’s “Lumière vivante®” technology is a lighting system designed to faithfully reproduce the natural dynamics of daylight. Using an outdoor sensor and an ultra-wide dynamic range controller (1:1,000,000), the system recreates in real time the variations of intensity and color found in the sky — from bright sunlight to moonlight. The goal is to reproduce indoors the luminous experience normally perceived outdoors.
How does Olumee dynamic lighting work? +
The Olumee system works with an outdoor sensor that continuously measures the light of the sky. This information is transmitted to a controller that drives the indoor luminaires to reproduce the same variations of intensity and color in real time. As a result, indoor lighting naturally evolves throughout the day, following the rhythm of the sky.
How is Olumee lighting different from conventional LED lighting? +
Traditional LED lighting produces static light with fixed intensity and color temperature. Olumee lighting reproduces the natural dynamics of daylight: brightness, color and contrast continuously evolve during the day. This creates a much more natural and comfortable lighting experience compared to conventional artificial lighting.
What are the benefits of lighting that reproduces natural daylight? +
Lighting inspired by natural daylight improves visual comfort, color perception and the overall atmosphere of indoor spaces. By reproducing the variations of daylight that the human eye naturally expects, it creates environments that feel more pleasant, lively and less artificial.
In which types of spaces can the Olumee solution be installed? +
The Olumee solution can be installed in many environments such as offices, commercial buildings, art galleries, hotels, restaurants, retail spaces, healthcare facilities and residential projects. It is particularly relevant in deep interior spaces where access to natural daylight is limited.
Does Olumee lighting influence circadian rhythms? +
Olumee lighting reproduces the natural variations of daylight, which play an important role in how humans perceive the day–night cycle. By creating dynamic lighting that evolves naturally instead of static artificial light, the system helps bring indoor environments closer to the natural rhythm of daylight.
Does installing an Olumee system require major construction work? +
No. Installing an Olumee system is generally simple and minimally invasive. The solution relies on an outdoor sensor, a central controller and compatible luminaires. In most cases it can be integrated into existing lighting systems or included in new architectural lighting projects.
Is the Olumee solution compatible with different types of luminaires? +
Yes. Olumee technology can control various types of luminaires designed to reproduce the dynamics of natural light. It can be integrated into architectural lighting fixtures, luminous ceilings or custom lighting installations. It's a window to be installed like a lamp
Why invest in lighting that reproduces daylight? +
Lighting that reproduces daylight significantly improves the perceived quality of indoor spaces. Dynamic and natural lighting enhances materials, colors and spatial atmosphere while creating environments that are more comfortable and engaging for occupants.
What is the dynamic range of the Olumee lighting system? +
The Olumee “Lumière vivante®” controller features an exceptional dynamic range of 1:1,000,000, comparable to the human eye. This allows the system to faithfully reproduce lighting conditions ranging from bright sunlight (100,000 lux) to moonlight (0.1 lux) without visible steps.
